What types of nameplates are there and what are they used for?

The nameplate is used to indicate the status of buttons, lights or switches on the panel (e.g. Start, Stop, Alarm, Auto/Manual) so that users or system engineers can operate correctly and avoid mistakes. The two main materials used are Rowmark plastic sheets, which have two colors in one sheet, are lightweight and flexible, and acrylic sheets, which are thick, strong and can be made in a variety of colors. Both types can be printed with text and symbols on the plate and can be installed on the panel with adhesive tape.
We produce nameplates with high-precision laser machines, supporting both standard 1.6 mm thick Rowmark material and acrylic sheets up to 5 mm thick. The edges are smooth, the letters are sharp and not easily peeled off, and the letter colors can be customized (for acrylic).
What are the standard sizes of nameplates?
There is no fixed size for nameplates, it depends on the requirements. For example, plates that fit over pilot lights or push buttons typically have a standard hole size of 22, 25, or 30 mm. Rectangular status plates are sized according to the panel and do not have a fixed standard.
We can produce nameplates in a variety of sizes according to customer requirements. The maximum size that can be produced is 280 x 280 mm, with a maximum thickness of 5 mm.
Can nameplates be customized with different fonts or colors?
Yes, of course. Creating a highlight for certain equipment sometimes requires a special bold font or using letter colors to differentiate operational categories. For Rowmark work, the color is predetermined by the material sheet (black letters on white background / white letters on black background). However, for acrylic work, it can be engraved and filled with color.
Our laser machines support all font types, including special characters and electrical symbols. Additionally, we offer acrylic nameplates with engraved grooves that can be painted and filled with color as desired. The color is deeply embedded in the acrylic and can be cleaned without peeling off.
Engineer’s tip: Although acrylic nameplates can be made in a variety of colors, the most readable and standard letter colors are white on black or black on white.
Is there a minimum order for nameplates?
No, there is no minimum order. We can produce nameplates in any quantity, from a single unit to large batches.
